Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Service Technician to join our growing Commercial Field Operations Team. This role will be responsible for performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage (ESS) systems. This role ensures optimal system performance, reliability, and safety while delivering exceptional service to our commercial clients. You will diagnose system issues, perform preventive maintenance, document field activities, and support commissioning and warranty services as needed, while collaborating closely with the Commercial Operations team, and other project stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for each commercial solar installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on commercial PV/ESS systems, including inverters, wiring, batteries, and other associated components.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for client PV/ESS systems to optimize performance and prevent system failures.
- Respond to corrective service calls, manage emergency repairs, and address client concerns in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Operations Team, Project Managers, Business Development Consultants, and other team members to provide technical guidance and resolve issues.
- Ensure proper documentation of service activities, including detailed service reports, parts usage, and system updates.
- Monitor and track site fleet performance, providing feedback and continuous improvement recommendations.
- Create service specific BOM’s and assist with inventory management; ensuring necessary materials and tools are available for projects, and job packs are complete and accurate.
- Manage manufacturer RMA processes and coordinate with Warehouse Specialists to ensure RMA materials are shipped/received as required.
- Lead the creation, development, and regular updating of service/O&M SOPs for Renu Commercial Field Operations processes. Ensure that all procedures are accurate, compliant with company and industry standards.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including project plans, installation manuals and reports, and system performance data.
- Maintain organization/inventory of company tools and ensure company vehicles are clean and well kept.
- Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring team members and/or subcontractors follow all OSHA and Renu Energy Solutions safety regulations and procedures.
- 10-15% overnight travel expected
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience working with Commercial PV/ESS systems or in a related electrical/mechanical field, with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial PV/ESS systems, including PV modules, module-level power electronics, inverters, racking systems, batteries, building automation systems, and electrical components; capable of reading and interpreting system diagrams/specifications and plansets.
- Strong understanding of national electrical codes (NEC), OSHA safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to commercial solar installations.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience working both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills:
- OSHA30, NABCEP Certification, equipment operator certification, or other relevant industry certifications preferred.
- Experience with multiple OEM systems and components.
- Knowledge of local and NEC codes and regulations related to Commercial solar/ESS installations.
- Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and lift heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with manufacturer monitoring and diagnostics tools and project management software.
- Proficiency with solar design software and project management tools.
- Experience in commercial project management, budgeting, and cost estimation.
Compensation: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
